March Madness

Posted on: March 24, 2008 2:16 pm

I would like to get some of your thoughts on March Madness and how well your favorite team is doing. So far I am very happy with WVU. They beat Arizona and also my most favorite hated team Duke. Late in the year alot of the critics said WVU did not deserve a bid and they were also picked to finish 12th in the Big East.

Well we proved the critics wrong and got a bid to the tourney and also finished 5th in the Big East. Doug Gottlieb was the biggest critic against WVU saying we beat up on the bottom half of the Big East. He has yet to give any props to WVU. But that is fine with me because we don't need people like Doug Gottlieb on our bandwagon. All we do is keep winning and I am sure he cringes everytime we do.

I have been very impressed by Davidson and the play of Stephen Curry. This kid is amazing and deserves alot of credit. He has the heart of a lion and the talent to go along with it. I wish them well the rest of the way. I must say I have enjoyed watching PITT loose as they do every year in the tourney. Also, I liked seeing Notre Dame and Georgetown loose.

As for WVU we have been giving a total team effort and playing well. Coach Huggins has stressed the importance of defense and rebounding and the players have responded. For years WVU lacked good defense and we never outrebounded anyone. I love the play of Alexander, Ruoff, Butler and Mazzulla. Joe Mazzulla is tough and physical and has been playing great. Even though Alexander is our go to guy the team as a whole has responded when he is having a down game. I am looking forward to the Xavier game Thursday night. So far it has been a great tourney for the Mountaineers and I hope it continues.

Lets hear it Mountaineer Nation. Lets Gooooooooooo Mountaineers.

March Madness

That is how me and Fraudriquez are different? I am loyal and he is a money hungry schmuk. Those Mountaineers continue to prove everyone wrong. How many other teams had successful football and basketball team in the same year. Yes we beat an overrated Oklahoma team in the Fiest Bowl... you might remember that one. And the Basketball team went to the Sweet 16 and should have won if it wasn't for free throws.

Once again another great year for WVU sports. Oh I forgot. The womens basketball team finished in the top half of the Big East and also made the Tournament. WVU mens basketball is one of 3 or 4 teams to make the Sweet 16 3 out of the past 4 years.

When WVU starts becoming unsuccessful then I may sway. No who am I kidding I am here for the long haul. Plus WVU sports are always successful.

Go Mountaineers

Lets recap some football and Basketball teams this year.

WVU Football won the Fiesta Bowl and finished 6th in the Nation. WVU Basketball finished 5th in the Big East and went to the Sweet 16.

UNC do they even have a football team. UNC basketball Final four

UCLA 5th in the PAC 10 . UCLA basketball Final Four. The last 2 times WVU played UCLA in basketball WVU won.

Kansas football great year beat VA Tech in bowl game. Kansas Basketball Final Four and always good.

Memphis Basketball Final Four. Football lost in Bowl game to Flordia Atlantic.

March Madness

No what you hear is the facts. Whether you are willing to accept them or not is up to you. Never count out the Mountaineers. Of all people you should know that. Remember the poor performance from the Sooners in the desert against a poor little team from Morgantown. Man wasn't those guys fast.

March Madness

Sure they were fast, but how National Championships have they won?  And they are hardly the poor little team from Morgantown anymore.  They haven't been put in those shoes in awhile.  And they would get a lot more recognition if it weren't for the crappy teams in the Big East.  The conference lost its credibility when all the teams left.  But they are the cream of the crop from the East.  They just need other teams in the conference to step up and help out their strength of schedule.

March Madness

True WVU is the Beast of the East. But last year lets look at the Big East. Cincinnati was in the top 25, USF was #3 at one point, Louisville started out in the top 25 and Rutgers was also in the top 25. Yeah we lost some teams but what have they done since they left? I agree we need some better teams but I think if USF, Louisville, and Rutgers continue it will be a nice conference. Oh we don't have any national championships and you can thank the polls and voters. Everytime WVU nears the top of the ranking they get no credit because the BCS is BS and the big time schools get all the credit. Screw the BCS and voters no one thought WVU would beat Georgia in the Sugar Bowl and we blew them out until the 2nd half but we did win. And last year we blew out Oklahoma another game no one thought WVU should be in or even win.

The program has earned alot of respect from other teams but it is time for the BCS to start giving them more credit. That is why we need a playoff in college football so we can see who the true champion is by deciding it on the field and not through some computer.
